"[Ari] went on to open America's greatest deli and stock it with some of the country's best bacon. And now he's penned the definitive scripture of streaky meat, Zingerman's Guide to Better Bacon. In his latest book, Weinzweig holds forth on exotic rashers like Hungarian Double and Canadian Peameal. From modern-day pig drovers to Wittenburg splits, the Guide covers it all - and even tests your knowledge at the end.... Need a recipe for buttermilk biscuits with chocolate gravy? Buy the book and make it for breakfast tomorrow."
—TastingTable.comEach handmade cover, designed and created by Ann Arbor book artist Jean Buescher Bartlett, has slight, unique variations. The front and back are both dark red coated cloth laid over archival book boards. The spine is straw-colored linen book cloth. Black linen book cloth is used for traditional, protective, fore-edge corners. The front cover features an inlaid, beveled, oval label printed by Jean in two colors using a traditional letterpress. The spine is topped off with yellow and burgundy headbands. The book is printed on acid-free paper to ensure its longevity, and the text is sewn rather than glued, for durability. Each copy is signed by Ari.
Virtually everyone involved in creating this artisanal book is based in southeast Michigan—most within a few miles of Zingerman's.
